12-year-old girl commits suicide by hanging herself in her mother’s room because she was hated

SWAKOPMUND: A 12-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her mother’s room in the Mondesa residential area here last week, allegedly because she was hated.

Emilia Nepembe, a Grade Seven learner from the Atlantic Primary School in Swakopmund, used a rope to hang herself on Tuesday between 16h00 and 21h00.

Her mother discovered her dead body when she returned home from business, and alerted the police.

Detective Inspector of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Walvis Bay, John Mwatongwe told Nampa today, the suicide note indicates that she is tired of being hated and insulted, but she did not mention who had been hating and insulting her.

In a similar incident on the same day, a 52-year-old man also hung himself to death with a rope in a shack he shared with a friend.

Josef Silvanus committed suicide between 07h00 and 21h00 in Mondesa.

No suicide note was found at the scene, and police opened an inquest docket in Silvanus’ death.
