2014 NAMAs nominees to be announced next week

WINDHOEK: The nominees for the 2014 Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) will be announced during a live broadcast on the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) television (tv) next week Monday, (31 March 2014).

This will enable artists who entered for the NAMAs to find out whether they made it as nominees.

According to the Executive Committee Member of the NAMAs, Tim Ekandjo in a media statement issued here on Wednesday, a total of 37 categories will be announced, with a maximum of six nominees in every category, except for the six public voting categories such as the Best Live Performance, Most Popular Artist, Most Disciplined Artist, Entertainment Journalist, Entertainment Radio Disk Jocky (DJ) and Most Socially Responsible Artist of the Year categories.

All other categories of nominees have been determined purely by the judges’ votes.

Ekandjo explained that once the nominees are announced, only the Song of the Year category will be open for public voting until 03 May 2014, while other categories can be considered closed.

He revealed that: “ Every NAMA event comes with its own surprises, but I must hint that we have a lot of new players emerging which makes for an exciting list of nominees.”

He therefore encouraged the public to take full advantage of the Early Bird NAMA ticket special of N. dollars 200 for a standard ticket and N. dollars 450 Very Important People (VIP) ticket that ends on 31 March 2014.

As from 01 April 2014 tickets will return to normal prices of N. dollars 250 for standard tickets and N. dollars 500 for a VIP ticket.

“All the best to all artists who took the time to participate in NAMA 2014 and for those who do not make it as nominees this year I encourage them not to give up,” he said.

The NAMAs take place on 03 May 2014 at Swakopmund Sports Indoor Centre in Swakopmund.
