78 carat diamond that went missing not yet recovered: Crime Investigation Coordinator

WINDHOEK: The 78 carat diamond that went missing around the time the Namdeb workers went on a strike, is yet to be recovered.

The diamond was found on 18 July 2014 by De Beers Marine, and it is one of the biggest diamonds ever found at sea.

The diamond was reported missing during the two-weeks strike that took place at Oranjemund last year, when workers of Namdeb refused a proposed 10 per cent increment.

Rudolf Isaak, Karas Regional Crime Investigation Coordinator told Nampa that the diamond has not been recovered yet.

He said that no suspects have been arrested and that investigation continues.

He said that the investigation is in a good status and they will continue to search for the diamond.

He could not reveal the actual value of the diamond, although it is estimated to be around N.dollars 77 million.
