A Chance to Tee Off With Legends

Local golfers are invited to enter their teams in this year’s ‘Bank Windhoek Golf Day in Aid of Welfare’, which tees off on the 19th of next month at the Windhoek Country Club, where golfers will have the opportunity to play with sporting legends over 18 holes of golf. The sports legends will be announced closer to the day of the event, but so far Brian McMillan and Clive Rice (both former South African international cricketers) and Oscar Chalupsky (South African sprint canoer) will join local golfers to raise money for welfare.

Entry fee per team is N$3 500 with the whole amount going to different welfare organisations, while Bank Windhoek carries the costs of gifts, prizes, catering and green fees. With the assistance of Pennypinchers and Kalahari Sands, the sport legends will be brought to Windhoek. The teams can bid to play with the sports legend of their choice with the money raised through the bidding going towards welfare. Currently in its 14th year, the golf day has raised more than N$1 million for welfare since its inception in 2000. Last year, a total of N$130 000 was raised. “The Bank Windhoek Golf Day in Aid of Welfare continues to grow from strength to strength. This year, we want to raise more funds than last year for the benefit of welfare organisations in Namibia. We therefore call upon golfers to enter their teams before the deadline of 29 August 2014 and make this year’s golf day a success,” said Riaan van Rooyen, Head: Corporate Communication and Social Investment at Bank Windhoek.

Welfare organisations in Namibia are invited to apply for proceeds from the 2014 Bank Windhoek Golf Day in Aid of Welfare before or on the 29th of this month.
