A member of Ongandjera People United Party denies that their organization is politically oriented

OSHAKATI: A member of the envisaged Ongandjera People United Party, Andreas Kapuku, has vehemently denied that their organisation is politically oriented.

Speaking to the media Sunday, he said the Ongandjera People United Party is a pure social organisation aimed at bringing together people of Ongandjera origin to share ideas and experiences socially.

Kapuku, a teacher at the Etalaleko Senior Secondary School (SSS) at Okahao, said the formation of their organisation has been misinterpreted.

He said the Ongandjera people party is not in line with politics at all – they are people of Swapo, and have no other political party.

Kapuku confirmed that the first meeting of the organisation was supposed to take place at Okahao on Sunday, but was postponed until further notice due to the fundraising activity held at the town over the weekend to generate money for the construction of a Swapo-party office there.

He said all people linked to the organisation, including King Johannes Mupongolitha Mupiya of Ongandjera, councillor of Okahao Constituency Isai Kapenambili, Okahao mayor David Isai, and district coordinator of Swapo Leonard Shikulo have been consulted and accepted the idea of bringing people of Ongandjera together.
