A woman and her two-year-old son died on spot after they were hit by a pick-up vehicle

KAYIRAYIRA: A woman and her two-year-old son died on the spot after they were hit by a pick-up vehicle at the Kayirayira village on the outskirts of Rundu yesterday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Kavango regional acting commander, Deputy Commissioner Petrus Shigwedha told Nampa today that the driver of the Nissan pick-up vehicle with a Windhoek registration number had been driving from Rundu towards Nkurenkuru at around 17h30 when the accident occurred.

The man drove into the 40-year-old woman, who was busy crossing the road whilst carrying her child on her back.

Police identified the deceased persons as Regina Kambonde, a resident of that village, and Johannes Hausiku.

Their next of kin have been informed, and the police have opened a case of culpable homicide.
