Accused denies any involvement in the alleged girlfriend murder incident

WINDHOEK: Groot Aub resident Gregory Kangandjera, who allegedly killed his girlfriend by strangling her to death with his bare hands at the settlement some four years ago, today denied any involvement in the alleged murder incident.

The 35-year-old Kangandjera denied committing the alleged murder when he entered a plea of not guilty to the three counts of murder, assault, defeating/obstructing or attempting to defeat or obstruct the course of justice at the start of his trial before High Court Judge Nate Ndauendapo.

Kangandjera entered his ‘not guilty’ plea in the presence of his government-funded defence lawyer Joshua Kaumbi.

Shortly after Kangandjera pleaded ‘not guilty’ to all charges, the trial was ordered to stand down until tomorrow morning as per agreement reached between the accused person’s defence lawyer and the prosecuting team’s representative, State Advocate Palmer Khumalo.

According to a summary of substantial facts contained in the charge sheet, Kangandjera apparently unlawfully and intentionally killed Loretta Kruger on 18 November 2010 by strangling her to death with his bare hands a few days after he accused her of cheating on him with a man he saw in her company at a Groot Aub shebeen.
