African Stars Dominate NPL Awards

African Stars defender Pat Nevin Uanivi bagged a brace of individual prizes as his side scooped five awards at the season-ending MTC Namibia Premier League Awards ceremony in Windhoek on Saturday.

Uanivi was voted the Player of the Season and Best Defender of the Season, while his veteran teammate Athiel Mbaha received the Best Goalkeeper of the Season.

Woody Jacobs won the Coach of the Season prize for leading African Stars to the league and the team received their winning cheque for ending Black Africa’s four year ghold on the NPL crown.

Orlando Pirates striker Nicky Musambani also collected a double in winning the Top Goal Scorer and Player’s Player of the season awards.

Three players currently on national duty with the Brave Warriors in Pretoria, South Africa also won individual prizes. Black Africa utility player Denzil Haoseb shared the Chairman’s Award with Tigers long serving goalkeeper Abiatar ‘Fox’ Nambundunga Cosafa Cup star Peter Shalulile of Tura Magic got the Best Young Player of the Season award and Blue Waters’ Gregory Aukumeb won the Best Midfielder award.

The Best Referee of the Season prize went to Reinhold Malima, with Christof Vries being voted the Best Assistant Referee of the Season.
