Another pedestrian killed on Oshivelo-Ondangwa road

ONGWEDIVA; The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) is investigating a case of culpable homicide after a pedestrian was bumped and killed by a vehicle while crossing the Oshivelo-Ondangwa main road in northern Namibia on Friday.

NamPol Deputy Commander in the Oshikoto Region, William Peter told Nampa on Friday that the incident occurred at about 01h20 at Cham-Cham village, some 40 kilometres northwest of Oshivelo settlement in the Oshikoto Region.

“It is alleged that the pedestrian was trying to cross the road from the north to the southern side. He was bumped by an oncoming sedan and he died on the spot,” Peter explained.

The vehicle involved has been identified as a red Volkswagen Golf with registration number Bn0185069, which was driven by a Justice Tjijenda from Botswana.

Three other Botswana nationals were passengers in the vehicle, and neither Tjijenda nor his passengers sustained injuries.

The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Albertina Pushenaye Ndeshihafela Hinaunye.

This past Wednesday, Bleam Ananias, 47, was also bumped to death by a car while trying to cross the Oshivelo-Ondangwa main road near the Oshikoto Region’s Oshifukwa village cucashops at night.
