Armed robbers now targeting Angolan nationals: NamPol

WINDHOEK: A couple from neighbouring Angola was robbed of thousands of N.dollars in cash and other valuable items at their house in Khomasdal here on Sunday.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force, Inspector Slogan Matheus told a media briefing here on Sunday afternoon that the alleged armed robbery incident took place in the early morning hours of Sunday at about 04h00 at Hip Court, Visarend Street in Khomasdal when three unknown men armed with pistols broke into the couple’s house and robbed the victims of their items.

It is reported that the suspects found the couple- a 54-year-old man and his wife- asleep when they pointed them with a firearm and demanded money from the two foreign nationals.

The suspects then took away from the male victim an amount of N.dollars 7 800 in cash, 3 800 US dollars, 30 000 Angolan Kwanzas and they also took US 150 dollars from the female victim.

Before the suspects fled the scene, they also took away with them LG television screen set valued at N.dollars 50 000, HP computer laptop worth N.dollars 7000 and LG mobile cellular phone valued at N.dollars 1500.

All the suspects are still at large and police investigations are underway in order to track down the culprits and bring them to book.

Also in Khomasdal, another female Angolan national, 45, was robbed of her valuable items when unknown persons entered her house at Florence Nightingale Street on Saturday at 23h50..

Accordiong to the police, a group of three male suspects armed with pistols entered the victim’s house, pointed a firearm at her and demanded money from her.

It is reported that the suspects took away from the victim an amount of N.dollars 4 500 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy S5 mobile cellular phone valued at N.dolllars 10 100, a Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile cellular phone valued N.dollars 5000, a Nokia cellphone, three expensive television sets, an Acer computer laptop valued at N.dollars 3000 as well as two sets of Samsung Tablets valued at N.dollars 3000.

All suspected robbers are still at large, and police investigations are underway.

On Saturday again, three unknown, one of them armed with a pistol, broke into a shebeen at Otjomuise 7 de Laan area at about 09h00, pointed a firearm at the 26-year-old man who was in the shebeen at the time, allegedly broke the Jackpot machine and took away an unknown amount of N.dollars in cash from the machine.

The suspects then fled the scene and are still at large.

Police investigations continue.

The suspects robbed the man of N.dollars 7 800 in cash, 3 800 US dollars, and 30 000 Angolan Kwanza. They also robbed the woman of 150 US dollars.

Meanwhile in another robbery in Windhoek on Saturday, three unknown men, one armed with a pistol, broke into a shebeen in the 7de Laan area at around 09h00.

They pointed a firearm at the 26-year-old man who was in the shebeen at the time, broke the jackpot machine and stole an unknown amount in cash from the machine.

The suspects then fled the scene and are still at large.

Police investigations continue.
