Attacking Brave Warriors 18-Man Squad Announced

The Brave Warriors technical team has selected an attacking and versatile team for their crucial first leg 2015 CAF Nations Cup qualifier match against Congo at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.

The technical team, led by head coach Ricardo Mannetti, started the camp with 23 players and had to reduce the squad to only 18 for the match and by 18h00 on Friday, the team was trimmed accordingly.

Mannetti has left out goalkeepers Edward Maova of Civics as well as Charles Uirab of Orlando Pirates. The on-field players left out are Tura Magic captain Neville Tjiueza, Civics midfielder Wangu Gomes and African Stars defender Dennis Tjetjinda.

“We had to reduce the team as per the rules and we made calculated decisions to leave out Neville, Wangu, Dennis and the two goalkeepers. They are hard working players who still remain a part of the team but they are not in the plans for the match on Saturday,” Mannetti said.

The coach said that his final 18-man squad was very attacking-minded and gave him an option to change things when the occasion called for it.

“With these final 18, I have players who are very versatile and give me options in terms of attack and defence. Our plan is to attack and we have a lot of attacking-minded players. Kaka (Panduleni Nekundi) is improving and remember he scored in our last game and I also have (Rudolph) Bester, Tangeni Shipahu, Hendrick Somaeb, who is currently our league top goal-scorer and Jerome (Louis) as well. And indeed the whole team is perfectly balanced for our plan on Saturday,” he said.

The coach reiterated his call for the supporters to come out in big number and push the boys to victory on Saturday.

“It all starts on Saturday and we need all the support we can get to make a success of the preliminary round. The players are ready and with the necessary support from the crowd we can get the desired result.”

The match takes place at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday with kick-off set for 16h00. Entrance ticketed are selling at N$40 at Football House and on Computicket at Shoprite and Checkers outlets countrywide.
