Australia Invites Graduates to Apply for Short Professional Courses

The Australian government is offering Namibian graduates opportunities for further studies in Australia or Africa in various professional fields next year.

In 2015 courses will be being offered through the Australia Awards Africa Fellowships programme, which enable successful applicants to undertake short-term, targeted professional training courses, in Australia andor in Africa, in a range of development-focused sectors. The various fields in which the courses will be offered are Agricultural Research, Biosecurity Policy and Practice, Agribusiness, Irrigation and Water Resources Management for Agriculture and Ocean Governance and Sustainable Fisheries Management.

The Agricultural Research the course is targeting those who are in their mid to senior level working in the role of agricultural policy, practice, research or reform. They must be currently employed in agriculture research institutionrogramme including universities, ministry, non-governmental organisations, private company or national and regional agricultural policy making organisation. They must also have a clear vision how they will use the knowledge gained through the short course to improve agricultural policy, practice and research or reform in Namibia.

Applicants must be Namibian citizens who are currently living in Namibia unless currently working for an African regional organisation. They must not be married toor be de facto of, or engaged to be married to a person who holds or is eligible to hold Australian or New Zeland citizenship or permanent resident status. They must satisfy any specific criteria established Namibia satisfy all requirements of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) for an DFAT student visa. Further they must also satisfy any specific requirements of the Institution at which the short course is to be undertaken and must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification.
