Bank Safely On Mobile Device This Christmas

GARTH Kleintjes, chief information officer at FNB Namibia says that mobile banking has continued to surge in customer usage and customers therefore needed to make sure that they are aware of the safety measures they need to take to ensure they do not compromise their personal banking details.

He says an emerging threat in the mobile space is shoulder surfing and the subsequent theft of mobile devices.

He says clients must be aware of this physical threat and criminal behaviour in this aspect is not just applicable to ATMs and point of sale devices, but is also a reality in the mobile space.

“During the festive season fraudsters are very active as they know some of us have more money, while others tend to be less vigilant and in a holiday mood,” says Kleintjes.
