Body of a woman found dumped in dunes

WINDHOEK: The lifeless body of a woman has been found dumped in the dunes near the Swakopmund-Walvis Bay road.

The police in the Erongo Region told Nampa yesterday that the body was found wrapped in a blanket some 300 metres away from the road by a passerby yesterday morning.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Detective Inspector Erastus Iikwiyu confirmed the incident saying the woman, who was in her late twenties, has been identified as Bernadine Baumgarten.

Iikwiyu said it is suspected that the victim was killed between 22h00 on Wednesday and 06h00 on Thursday.

He said the police suspect that the body was placed in a municipal household refuse bin which the suspect then used to take the body to the dunes.
