Bon’s Shiimi Inaugurated As Uukwambi Authority Headman

BANK of Namibia (BoN) Governor, Iipumbu Shiimi was on Saturday inaugurated as the new headman of the Uukwambi Traditional Authority’s Ontana village in the Omusati Region.

Shiimi is to succeed his father, Aloisius ‘Kuma’ Shiimi, who was that village’s headman before he passed away in March 2014.

The village is situated some 10 kilometres north of Oshakati.

Chief Herman Iipumbu of Uukwambi, accompanied by his senior headmen from Onamega, Olupembana and Oshikuku districts, officiated at Shiimi’s inauguration.

Delivering his inauguration address, Iipumbu urged Shiimi to lead the community of Ontana as per the regulations of the Uukwambi Traditional Authority and the Traditional Authorities Act.

In his acceptance speech, Shiimi appealed to his subjects to be united, peaceful and compliant.

“This village and the country at large will prosper when we live in peace towards one another, stay united and work together,” he said.

He said parents should raise their children properly by aising them well and ensuring that they go to school to become professionals in future.

Iipumbu handed to Shiimi, amongst others, the copy of the Uukwambi Traditional Authority regulations, Traditional Authorities Act, a walking stick and traditional gear in the form of the hat and shirt.

Omusati regional councillor for the Oshikuku Constituency, Modestus Amutse also attended the inauguration ceremony.
