Car accident claims three lives outside Rundu

Three people died in a car accident 15 kilometers East of Rundu in the Ngaramateya area on Sunday.

Acting Regional Crime Investigations’ Coordinator for Kavango East, Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Monday that the driver who was driving a government Toyota pick-up was travelling from the east direction to west.

He lost control and overturned several times causing his death and that of two other passengers that were traveling with him.

The deceased have been identified as 29 year old Sigweda Daniel Muronga and Burruta Karel Joseph whose age the police could not yet establish.

The body of the third person who is believed to be a woman was not yet identified.

26 year old Kamasho Sebron was the only survivor from the accident and was rushed to the Rundu State Hospital.

Mubebo suspects over speeding to be the cause of the incident and thus cautioned drivers to stick to their speed limits.

He also warned of the extreme heat in the region stating that drivers should be extra careful as tyres can easily burst due to the hot weather.

The next of kin of the two people have been informed and police investigation into the matter continues.

In a separate incident which also took place on Sunday a 28 year old man died at the Rundu State Hospital after he was stabbed with an unknown object on the left side of his chest.

The incident took place at the Kavango Trade Fair premises at around 2h30 in the morning.

The deceased has been identified as Petrus Gabriel.

The police are yet to arrest the suspect.
