China has a lot to learn on basic human rights, a senior Chinese official says

WINDHOEK: China still has a lot to learn on basic human rights, a senior Chinese official has said.

President of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD), Huang Mengfu said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Justice Utoni Nujoma on Monday.

Huang said his country still has a lot to learn especially when it comes to basic human rights like education, health and other fields, adding that with Namibia’s good human rights track record, his country can learn from Namibia.

Huang noted that his country is now focusing on financial growth.

On his part, Nujoma congratulated China on being elected to the United Nations’ Human Rights Council during November 2013.

He called on the Chinese Government to continue to work together and cooperate with Namibia on issues of common interest at all international forums the two countries participate in.
