Citizens Dream of Cup Final

Despite a lack of competitive football over the past month, Citizens FC will leave no stone unturned in their quest for a place in the final, when they meet United Stars in the Biest Cup semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

Their match is due to start at 15h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday and according to Citizens’ coach George Ochurub, the lower division side, who will be playing Premier League football next season, are committed to reach the final of the lucrative competition.

“We have nothing to lose. This is our best chance of reaching a final, and our first final of this magnitude. Our preparations have gone well and we have a full squad with no injuries. Despite not playing competitive football for over a month now since our league ended, we have kept it together and the mind frames of the players are just where I want it.

“This is the cup of dreams and we are dreaming of the final appearance and come Saturday, United Stars will face a determined side indeed,” said Ochurub.

Ochurub is however mindful of Stars’ threat as well and knows that they will be a tough nut to track.

“United Stars play every week and they are very fast but we have a plan for them. It will be a tough match, but we have a balanced team and the players have come this far, and they know that with an extra effort they can reach the jackpot,” he said.

The Citizens versus United Stars clash will be followed by the second semifinal between African Stars and Tura Magic at at 17h00.

Tickets for the double-header are N$30 each on Computicket at Shoprite and Checkers outlets countrywide.
