Civilians Ready to Send Rebels Packing

Former MTC Premiership triple champions Civics Football Club will be out to move up on the log standings with a comprehensive victory against league rookies Rebels, when the two clubs clash at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, tonight 20h00.

The Civilians suffered a surprise home defeat at the hands of United Stars in last weekend’s action but somehow managed to dust themselves off with a convincing 2-0 win against the league’s new boys, Julihno Sporting.

Civics will be without the services of veteran defender Muree Katjieto and number one shot-stopper Cyril Namaseb, who are both injured.

Christy Guruseb’s charges will also have a date with high-flying Tigers at the same venue on Sunday. Victory against lowly placed Rebels is likely to boost their confidence going into the penultimate clash against hoodoo side Ingweinyama.

Bobby Samaria’s unpredictable soldiers have been blowing hot and cold of late and on current form should pose a serious threat to their cross-town rivals’ aspirations to finish in the top four at the end of the current term.

On paper, Tigers certainly have enough quality to challenge the dominance of both Black Africa and African Stars.

The Donkerhoek outfit has developed a tendency of coming unscathed against the big guns only to falter against lesser opponents and unless that weakness is arrested quickly – Ingweinyama will remain in the shadows of their celebrated rivals.
