Colonel Wilbard of Namibian Defense Force takes over as Commandant Military School

OKAHANDJA: Colonel Wilbard Shikongo of the Namibian Defence Force yesterday took over as the new Commandant of the Military School, replacing Brigadier-General Frederick Siluzungila with effect from 01 April 2014.

Siluzungila, the 7th Commandant of the School who has been in that position for three years, has been appointed as Deputy Army Commander at the army headquarters in Grootfontein.

Shikongo, 57, pledged to continue building on the strong and durable foundation laid by his predecessor.

He said Brigadier-General Siluzungila’s bold leadership skills and vision to develop the Military School as well as his clear directives, motivation and guidance made it possible to bring the school where it is today.

Shikongo said the Military School acknowledges the legacy left behind by the outgoing commandant, and he will strive to ensure that all training objectives are accomplished to the end of the current training calendar and into the future.

He thus encouraged all officers, warrant officers and the men and women of the Military School to continue showing utmost discipline, teamwork and commitment towards the realisation of the school’s training objectives.
