CTC A Crush B Team

CTC A crushed CTC B 20-0 in the opening round of matches of the Namibia Tennis Association’s Inter-club league that started last weekend.

CTC A’s dominance was such that the B side never won a single set from the possible 10 sets on offer. In the singles matches CTC A’s Eno Akpabibo beat Lawrence Kahindi 6-4 6-0 while his counterpart Kuda Chani beat Ndumiso Moyo 6-2, 6-4 in the other singles match.

In the doubles matches, CTC A’s Sam Kaulinge and Bob Mould easily beat Tafadazwa Chakare and Kyalo Kitheka 6-2, 6-3, while they beat Kahindi and Moyo by the same score in the reverse doubles match.

In the other reverse doubles, the A combination of Akpabio and Chani comprehensively beat Chakare and Kiteka 6-0, 6-2.

There was no love lost between the sister teams and CTC B’s captain Lawrence Kahindi, after being taunted on the active CTC members’ social media about their drubbing, tweeted back, saying, ‘this was just an initiation experience for us! The next match will see the better side of us!’

Only one match was played last weekend after the other second league and women’s league matches were postponed due to the mid-week holiday.

Another men’s first league match between Nampol and CTC was not played after CTC failed to get a team together in time and Nampol won the match on a walkover.

This year’s league, by popular demand, will be played over two legs, home and away. The league will continue until September 19 when all matches in the men’s second league will have been played.

Nampol, Central Tennis Club (CTC), Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) and DTS tennis club have entered men and women’s teams in the first and second divisions. CTC have eight teams in total, of which five are in the men’s second league.

The league continues this coming weekend with matches to be played at CTC, SKW, DTS and Nampol clubs.
