Daylight Armed Robbery in Oshakati

Two armed robbers struck Apollo Eleven in the Uupindi informal settlement at Oshakati west, just after the shop had opened for the day on Monday and got away with goods and cash valued at about N$10 000.

According to the shop manager, Katrina Nashilundo, the two men arrived at the shop and found two workers.

Nashilundo said one of the men asked about the price of a small packet of sugar, while his partner took out a gun.

They then allegedly ordered the workers to lie down behind the counter, before they searched the shop, broke the gambling machine and took the money box that had more than N$1 300.

They also allegedly forced the till open and stole more than N$5 400, recharge cards valued at N$2 000 and N$1 000 in one dollar coins from the jackpot machine.

Nashilundo further said the robbers locked the two workers inside the shop and disappeared.

Apparently the workers stood up and saw the robbers jumping into a white bakkie and drove away.

The workers phoned the police and Nashilundo when the robbers had left.

Oshana police spokesperson Sergeant Thomas Aiyambo said they are investigating the incident and hope to catch the culprits soon.

Aiyambo appealed to members of the public to assist the police in tracing the robbers.
