De Duine and SSS Win FNB Classic Clashes

The FNB Classic Clashes continued with soccer matches at the coast last weekend, with De Duine and Swakopmund Secondary Schools emerging victorious against Namib High and Coastal High respectively.

De Duine beat Namib High 2-0, while Swakopmund beat Coastal High 2-1.

The De Duine v Namib High match saw a brilliant display of soccer skills from both sides, but De Duine made better use of the chances that came their way.

In the second match, Coastal High showed aggressive intent from the onset and took the lead after just 10 minutes. They dominated the rest of the half and created several other chances but failed to convert them.

In the second half Swakop Secondary School changed their tactics and made a fine comeback. They started to create chances and scored two goals to take the lead.

Coastal High pushed hard for the equaliser but it was not to be.

The Namib Mills Heroes of the weekend were Pius Samuel of De Duine who is his school’s head boy as well as the junior mayor of Walvis Bay, and Ester Shitana of Coastal High for academics.

The FNB man of the matches were Jeandre Geibeb of De Duine and Steven Kavani of Coastal High.

The FNB Classic Clashes continue this coming weekend with Kolen Foundation taking on West Side High in Arandis on Friday, 11 July while SI Gobs Secondary School take on Kuisebmund Secondary School in Omaruru on Saturday, 12 July.
