Dr Hage Geingob Cup At Independence Stadium

The inaugural Dr Hage Geingob Cup featuring African Stars and South African league champions Mamelodi Sundowns will take place at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on Africa Day, Sunday, 25 May.

There will be a number of activities throughout the day, including musical performances by some of Namibia’s top performers, and a match between diplomats and parliamentarians.

The gates open at 10h00, while the first match between the ‘Prime Ministers Invitational’ and the Diplomats kicks off at 11h00.

This will be followed by performances till the main curtain raiser match between Tigers and Black Africa at 14h00, while African Stars take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Dr Hage Geingob Cup at 16h00.

After the prize giving ceremony, a musical show will commence at 19h30, featuring Namibia’s top performers like the Dogg, Gazza, Tate Buti, PDK, Wild Dogs and Brumilda amongst others.

The City of Windhoek has also availed municipal busses that will take fans free of charge to the Independence Stadium and back.

There will be bus pick up points at all the major bus stops throughout Windhoek, with busses departing every half hour to the stadium.

Entrance tickets for the day are N$20 in aance at Computicket and Football House and N$40 at the gates. The first 3 000 people are due to receive Dr. Hage Geingob Cup memorabilia, which will include t-shirts and caps.

The Cup is sponsored by Windhoek Draught and MTC in conjunction with NBC, Namibia Airports Company, Windhoek Country Club Resort, NFA, Skorpion Zinc, City of Windhoek and Air Namibia.
