DTA appeals for election funds from business community

RUNDU: The Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) has appealed to the business communities to financial and materially support the opposition party, saying it is the only party of choice for them if they want their businesses to survive and prosper in Namibia.

The DTA Secretary-General Vincent Kanyetu called on the business personalities and institutions to make financial, material support to the party in order to run a successful election campaign this year.

Namibia will have her Presidential and National Assembly election towards the end of this year.

Kanyetu told Nampa during an interview on Wednesday, for the party to have a successful election campaign this year, it needs least N.dollars five million which will ensure that they access all corners of the country’s 14 regions.

“We appeal to the business communities to support the DTA as it is the only home for the survival of their businesses and that of the ordinary men in Namibia,” Kanyetu appealed.

The DTA Chief Administrator stated that the party is not in financial trouble, but just need funds to add to what it already has in its coffers, stressing that they want to give the ruling Swapo party a good run for their money during this year’s Presidential and National Assembly election.

He said the party does not any funding from any donors from elsewhere like other political parties in the country, hence the appeal for financial support from business communities and individuals alike.

Meanwhile, Kanyetu announced that the DTA party will have its regional conferences to elect new leadership structures in the three regions starting next month.

The party will elect new leaders in the positions of regional chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, secretaries, treasurers, and secretaries for the youth and women league in Zambezi, Kavango and Hardap region respectively.

From the 02-03 April, the party will have regional conference in Zambezi region with the Kavango East and West region hosting its conference from 04-05 April while in Mariental in the Hardap region, the conference will be from 12-13 April.
