DTA Claims to Be Only Alternative to Swapo

THE DTA presidential candidate, McHenry Venaani, says his party is the only political “alternative” to Swapo.

Venaani called on DTA members and sympathisers at the party’s final election campaign rally at Keetmanshoop on Sunday to vote for the party that will build a country where all would enjoy equal rights.

“Vote for issues. Vote to rescue our country,” said Venaani

Venaani claimed the ruling Swapo Party has become a political home for the “elite only”, adding that it has “forgotten the value of humanity”.

“We must crack Swapo Party’s two-thirds majority, because it is a threat to democracy,” Venaani remarked. He pledged that when elected into power, he and his party will improve health and education service delivery and deliver land to the landless, while eradicating unemployment and poverty.

“We’ll trim the bloated civil service to create jobs, and implement the urban resettlement programme to address the land issue,” said Venaani, adding that the party will stimulate jobs for the youth by funding them to start small and medium enterprises. Accusing the Swapo Party of “selling the country’s sovereignty” to the Chinese, Venaani said: We’re not for sale. We reject those who want to sell our country to the Chinese”.

“Ministers’ children are studying free of charge in China. That is why they sell pieces of land to the Chinese”.

Venaani condemned government’s plan to construct a N$700million parliament building, and the purchase of a new jet at the cost of N$130 million, claiming only the “interests of the elite are being catered for” by the current regime.
