DTA elects new leaderships in Kavango and Zambezi regions

RUNDU: The DTA of Namibia party has recently elected its new leaderships for the two Kavango regions and the Zambezi Region in view of the general elections slated for November this year.

The leaderships of the Kavango East and Kavango West regions were elected during joint regional conferences here on Thursday and Friday last week, while that of the Zambezi Region was elected on 02 and 03 April.

Renhild Kudumo was elected as the new coordinator for the Kavango East Region, a position previously held by Vincent Kanyetu who is now the DTA Secretary-General.

Andreas Ihemba was elected as the deputy coordinator, with Sophia Simon serving as secretary and Sifuro Romanus as treasurer.

Josephine Kobonus became the secretary for the party’s women’s league, while the secretary for the youth league is Fransiska Vikeya. Emma Mayavero is the secretary of the party’s elders’ council.

In the Kavango West Region, Bonny Kashera was officially elected as coordinator after serving in an acting capacity for a while, and he will be deputised by Lukas Simbombo.

Johanna Mbimbi and Goswin Kazana were elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively while Emelia Athanasius is the secretary for the women’s league and Herman Mbwala secretary for the youth league.

The new secretary for the elders’ council is John Kabinda.

In the Zambezi Region, Fred Waluka was elected as coordinator, and he will be deputised by Geofrey Mwilima.

Vicky Chainda will serve as the secretary and Beauty Akanuwa as treasurer.

The elected secretaries for the party’s women’s and youth league are Noris Mayandelo and Nalisa Muyali, respectively while Richard Siyambango became the secretary for the elders’ council.

Meanwhile, Kanyetu told this reporter on Wednesday that the new leaderships are expected to canvas for support and ensure that the party is brought back to its glory days, and this will be done through conducting house-to-house mobilising campaigns.

He said the party’s new leaderships in the two Kavango regions as well as Zambezi have been directed to mobilise Swapo-Party members to join the DTA.

The DTA SG indicated that the party will only win the forthcoming elections and increase its seats in the National Assembly if it takes from the majority party – Swapo.

“We will not be concentrating on name-calling campaigns and character assassination, but will focus on communicating our policy,” he said.
