DTA of Namibia president says his political organization is growing countrywide

OSHITAYI: The DTA of Namibia president McHenry Venaani says his political organization is growing countrywide and has received 13 400 ex- South West Africa Territorial Force (SWATF) and Koevoet members recently.

Venaani said this at the Oshitayi village near Ondangwa whilst officially opening a joint regional DTA conference for the northern regions of Oshana, Ohangwena, Omusati and Oshikoto yesterday.

The one-day conference was aimed at electing new leaders of the DTA for the four regions.

The DTA president noted that the party’s representatives have informed his office that there are 40 people at Olukonda in the Oshikoto Region and 44 people at Ohalushu in the Ohangwena Region who have decided to join the DTA.

According to Venaani, most of the people who are joining the DTA are former members of the SWATF and Koevoet who were lured to join the ruling Swapo-Party and the official opposition party, the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP).

He charged that people join the DTA after realising that promises made to them by the ruling Swapo-Party were never fulfilled, and that they continue to live in poverty in the country of their birth 24 years after independence.

Venaani told the conference participants that the DTA is not there to criticise, but the party is there to bring up new ideas that would take people of Namibia out of poverty and give them hope.
