Early Christmas for Elderly, Disabled

The Mayoral Fund of Luumlderitz last Sunday hosted an early Christmas party for close to 400 elderly and disabled residents of the town.

The Mayor of Luumlderitz Suzan Ndjaleka explained that she together with the trustees of the fund do something every year for vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, orphans and people living with disabilities at Luumlderitz.

She said that last year they did not get enough sponsorship and were only able to distribute fish mince from a yearly pledge they got from Seaflower along with a few commodities.

Ndjaleka applauded the mayoral fund for approaching different businesses for assistance for them to make this year’s event a success.

This year the elderly and people with disabilities were treated to a three-course meal, plus carry home packages containing mealie meal, cooking oil, packets of soup, sugar and tea, with an approximate value of N$100 for each beneficiary.

Ndjaleka indicated that it was through the assistance of different businesses that they were able to organize an early Christmas party for the elderly and disabled.

The sponsors were Seaflower, Novanam, Marco Fishing, Oruhapo Properties Solution, Salini-Namibia, Fidco Joint, Luumlderitz Spar who gave a discount on the carry home packages and OK Grocer, Nticky’s Take Away, DampH Catering and Wienda’s Bread Bin.

Ndjaleka thanked the elderly people for showing up. The food and packages were distributed amongst those who gathered at the Benguela Community Hall and those living in the two old age homes in Luumlderitz.

The mayor wished all the beneficiaries a merry Christmas and prosperous new year.
