Education Ministry to tackle bogus higher institutions

WINDHOEK: The Ministry of Education says it will tighten the screws on institutions of higher learning offering diplomas and certificates that are not recognized by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA).

Education Minister, David Namwandi said Namibia cannot afford to have institutions that are trying to “dilute the country’s education” by offering qualifications that are not recognised by the NQA.

He made these remarks here on Wednesday when he officially released the 2014 Grade 12 Namibia Senior Certificate (NSSC) Ordinary-Level results.

The minister warned that the government will make sure that the law will deal with all colleges that are seen to be taking the country’s education for granted.

Meanwhile, the NQA earlier this month advised students in Namibia to be careful when enrolling with colleges of higher learning, as some may be bogus institutions.
