eingob undergoes eye operation

WINDHOEK: Prime Minister, Dr Hage Geingob has undergone a ‘minor’ eye operation, his personal assistant Liandro Mensah announced on Wednesday.

Mensah issued a terse media statement, saying the eye surgery was conducted in the capital and it was for the removal of cataract from Geingob’s left eye. He did not state the name of the hospital where the operation took place.

“The procedure was successful and the Prime Minister is currently recovering,” Mensah said.

He added that Geingob has now been booked off for a week, and will return to office on 02 June 2014.

Geingob, who is poised to run for the Office of the President of the Republic of Namibia at the end of this year, also underwent a ‘minor’ brain surgery last year August.

The surgery was reportedly a standard medical procedure on his skull to remove blood caused by a small subdural bleed.
