Erna Chimu Brings Live Jazz to Goethe Centre Courtyard

MONTHLY initiative Night Under the Stars takes place at the Goethe Centre’s courtyard on Friday, 8 May, this time featuring the award-winning jazz performer, Erna Chimu.

“As Namibians, we need to give acknowledgement to where we come from. I have always tried to blend traditional sounds with jazz. As a genre, jazz is fluid, yet grounded and mature. It gives me a podium where I can raise social concerns in a setting where people are calm and open,” she said.

Erna will be accompanied on stage by her band comprising Stet Gerson Doeseb on the keyboard, Samuel Batola on the guitar as well as vocals, Jean Pierre Ntsika on the bass guitar, Manneckey Khoe-Aob on the cajon and percussion and Guichont Bikomou on the drums.

The ‘Night Under the Stars’ concerts make for an ideal Friday night out with friends and showcases the Goethe Centre’s commitment to bringing high quality live local sounds to the people. The concert is part of the German Weeks programme, celebrating 25 years of German-Namibian co-operation.

The concert kicks off at 19h00. Entrance is N$20. The Goethe Centre is located on 1-5 Fidel Castro Street. Refreshments will be available at the venue.
