Erongo Beat Karas 2-1

Erongo beat Karas 2-1 in the second match of the Namibian Newspaper Cup on Friday to go to the top of Group B.

Karas took the lead through a cracking shot by Jean Stephanus but Erongo equalised just before the break through Marius Hashipala. Erongo finished ger and Sebastiano Gonteb scored the winner seven minutes from time.

Karas started gly and displayed some good passing and dribbling skills in the opening stages.

Marley Engelbrecht had an early shot cleared, and then hit the post with a cracking shot on 12 minutes.

Karas took the lead through a great goal by Stephanus. Engelbrecht started a quick counterattack and passed to Stephanus, who’s 30 metre cracker bounced off the upright and into the net.

Erongo equalised rather fortuitously on 25m when they won a corner and an unmarked Marius Hashipala stabbed the ball into the net.

Erongo were the ger team after the break with players like Henry Duwe, Sebastiano Gonteb and Kevin Kahmann initiating regular attacks.

Hashipala had a header well saved by Karas keeper Sebedeus Apollus before Gonteb scored the winner after nipping into the box and sending a shot past Erongo keeper Martin Humphries from an acute angle.

Karas midfielder Reyneldo Blaauw was voted man of the match and received a trophy and N$500.
