Expect a Night of Fireworks – Jarman

Anthony Jarman has promised fireworks when he takes on Pohamba ‘The President’ Mandume in Windhoek on Saturday.

Jarman and Mandume will trade leather in a national welterweight title fight at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.

Speaking during a media conference by Kinda Boxing Promotions on Tuesday, Jarman said he is excited to contest a 10-round bout for the first time in his professional boxing career.

He holds a record of nine fights – eight wins and one loss, while Mandume has a record of 12 fights, of which he won five, drew two and lost five.

Jarman said he has prepared well for the fight, and that the title will be his.

“I can already see that title belt around my waist,” he said confidently.

On his part, current title holder Mandume said he always prepares to win his fights.

Mandume stressed that there is no way he is going to disappoint the nation ‘as the country’s president’.

“I will make sure I put up a good fight for my citizens, because I do not want to disappoint my country,” he said.

Promoter Kinda Nangolo told the media that his aim is to promote all Namibian boxers.

“All boxers are welcome to my academy, because we are one family,” he stated.

Nangolo expressed gratitude to the main sponsors of the event, Telecom Namibia, saying if it was not for them, most boxing events would not have been possible.

The first bout of the night will start at 18h00. In the non-title undercard bouts on the same night, Varde Ndayambekwa will square-off against Kennedy Kamati, while Christian Ukelo will fight Phillip Swartbooi, with Niilo Costa Frans against Toivo Mukwendje – all in the lightweight category.

Paulus Petrus and Lukas Mukete will fight in the light-welterweight category, while Mathew Kaandala will fight Eric Kalenga, and Johannes Ishono will fight Shinuna David in the featherweight division. Amateur boxers Nangundu Dorian and Tangeni Neliwe will fight in the bantamweight category.

Tickets are on sale at the Boxing Control Board, and also at the venue on fight night at N$200 per person and N$10 000 per table seating 10 people.
