Farmer Offers Reward for Stock Theft Breakthrough

A FARMER from the Karibib district has offered a N$10 000 reward to the person who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the culprits responsible for the disappearance and slaughter of his cattle.

Bethuel Auchab of Farm Kranzberg, about 30kms outside Usakos towards Karibib, last week lost seven cattle to rustlers.

According to his son, Stoney Auchab, the carcasses of the cattle were found after they had been slaughtered in a riverbed a few kilometers from the farm.

“They slaughtered six cattle and one is still missing. We could only find the heads of the slaughtered animals. A case has been reported to the Usakos police and they are hard at work to trace the culprits. Any information that would lead to the arrest of these people will be appreciated,” Auchab told The Namibian.

Auchab last year experienced a similar ordeal when 25 of his goats were slaughtered of which also only the heads were found in a riverbed. This incident was also reported to the Usakos police.

Police reported yesterday (17 September) that no arrests have been made and that the investigation continues.
