Four diplomatic missions to be opened by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in addition to existing 27

WINDHOEK: Four diplomatic missions will be opened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – in addition to the existing 27 – during the 2014/15 financial year.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah announced this yesterday while introducing her ministry’s budget allocation in the National Assembly.

The four diplomatic missions will be opened in Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo; in Dakar, Senegal; Accra, Ghana and in Helsinki in Finland.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the four will form part of her ministry’s Foreign Mission Representation Programme.

She said the decision to open these missions was informed by the need to realise the objectives of Vision 2030, and the implementation of the National Development Programme (NDP).

The amount of N.dollars 768 367 000 which has been requested under the programme will also be used to enhance the functions of the current 27 diplomatic missions and the three consular posts.
