Girl, 9, falls from donkey cart and dies: NamPol

WINDHOE: A nine-year-old girl died in the early morning hours of Monday (yesterday) at Okaluwa village, Omuntele area, about 06h50 after she allegedly fell from a moving donkey cart.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi told a media briefing here on Tuesday afternoon that the deceased person was identified as Wilka Nuugwanga Ndapandula Angula, 9, and she died after she fell from the moving donkey cart when it (cart) hit a pole and overturned.

The deceased child’s next of kin have already been informed and police investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the accident that claimed the life of the child.

A 66-year-pensioner was arrested by the police at Okaonde village, Ontananga area, in Oshikoto region after he allegedly shot and killed a 44-year-old man at the village yesterday.

It is allleged that the deceased person, Evalistus Shipanga, was shot with a pistol on the chest and died on the spot.

It is furtther alleged that the two men- suspected pensioner Ananias Aukus and Shipanga- were involved in a heated quarrell before the shooting incident.

The alleged shooting incident in which Shipanga lost his life took place at the village’s cucashop at about 21h30 yesterday.

The police at the northern town of Omuthiya in Oshikoto region are investigating a case culpable homicide after Armas Ndjambula (age not mentioned) died during a road accident that took place on the Othemayethano/Omuthiya gravel road yesterday (Monday).

It is alleged that Ndjambula, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died on the spot when the driver of the vehicle he was travelling in lost control of the vehicle and overturned.

The 39-year-old driver-Kleopas Amulungu- sustained some injuries on the neck and head and is now recieving medical attention at the Onandjokwe Lutheran Church Hospital near Ondangwa.

All the people who were involved in the aforesaid accident are residents of the Onakankuzi village.

Deceased Ndjambula’s next of kin have already been informed, and police investigations continue to establish the exact circumstances of the accident and loss of life.

The accident happened some 11 kilometres to Omuthiya at about 02h00 on Monday.

In the capital, the Wanaheda police reported that a 66-year-old man shot and wounded his 46-year-old girlfriend on Monday between 09h00 and 10h00 at the corner of Green Mountain Road and Matsitsi Road yesterday in Katutura.

It is alleged that the pensioner shot the victim once in the forehead and once in the mouth with a pistol.

After this, the elderly man then allegedly turned then gun on himself by shooting himself in the mouth and the bullet exited at the back of his head.

In the case of the female victim, the bullet shot through her mouth exited on the back of her head while the one on the forehead is still stuck in her head.

Both lovers- suspected pensioner and female victim- are reported to be recieving medical attention at a local hospital and their health conditions are said to be stable.

Police investigations continue, said Kanguatjivi.
