Girl allegedly raped in peculiar circumstance

WINDHOEK; A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped at the Tjaka village in the Omaheke Region on 10 July 2014.

The Namibian Police Force Sergeant Slogan Matheus told the media here on Sunday the girl does not know who committed the act.

The victim told the Police that she left her friends at a shebeen and went to sleep at a friend’s house. This friend, identified only as Paula, remained at the shebeen, and there was no one at Paula’s house when she arrived.

However, the victim woke up the next morning at another house belonging to a man named Piet. She was naked, and there were visible signs that someone had intercourse with her while she was asleep.

Piet, however, was also not at his house, as he is apparently working on a farm.

Matheus said investigations into the matter have not been finalised yet.

In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man was arrested for having had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl without her consent at the Kayengona village in the Rundu District.

It is alleged that the suspect took the victim, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, from the bar where she was drinking to his house, where the incident took place on Friday.
