Govt Running Like Headless Chickens – Ulenga

CONGRESS of Democrats president Ben Ulenga said the government is running around like a headless chicken building houses after having been silent for almost 25 years.

Speaking at a press briefing in Windhoek yesterday, Ulenga accused government officials of squandering funds allocated for building the same ‘delayed houses.’

“They are running around like headless chickens trying to build houses apparently for people after they have been lying idle for the past 24 years. Now that elections are around the corner they make the announcements. This is laughable,” he said.

He said it is regrettable that the Electoral Affairs Project and the proposed amendments to the national Constitution are “coming in very late in the day” to be discussed.

Ulenga also urged government to amend the Veterans’ Act, which he said “has been something and it managed to get some people out of poverty”.

The problem, he said, was that people can only be allocated money because of their political status. He said tribalism should end as all Namibians fought together to attain freedom that everyone should enjoy.

“It’s regrettable that even the President makes remarks about former Koevoet fighters not getting the share of war veterans’ money,” he further said.

Ulenga said CoD will bring change and transformation through education, which he says will be free from pre-primary to tertiary level should his party be voted into power.
