Group Introduces Accident Insurance Cover

MOTOR Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) statistics show that every year on average, about 500 Namibians die on national roads whose causality statistics are the third highest in SADC region behind only South Africa and Lesotho.

To address this national challenge, Namib Industrial Group a wholly owned Namibian company, owned by a young and innovative Namibian entrepreneur, Regto Ndemufayo David will launch a road accident insurance cover this year called ‘Go Safe, Eenda Nawa.’

‘Eenda Nawa’ was awarded the DBN Business Innovation Award in 2014 and is an innovative product that assists Namibian families with medical and funeral costs during their times of need after road accidents for as little as N$20 with a 24-hour travel cover.

According to David, “through Go Safe-Eenda Nawa we want to give medical and funeral support to Namibian people through an affordable and instant road accident insurance cover in their time of need that is accessed via mobile technology.”

Customers simply SMS their full name to a Go Safe number before every trip to town for shopping or long distance drives and will be covered for medical and funerals by Go Safe should anything happen to them on the roads.

David said the scheme will be introduced to the rest of Africa at the upcoming eCommerce Africa conference scheduled for next month in Cape Town. He hopes to extend the product as a franchise to neighbouring countries.
