Hage, Monica to attend Buhari inauguration

WINDHOEK: President Hage Geingob will leave for Abuja, Nigeria today to attend the inauguration of Nigerian president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.

A statement issued by the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation yesterday said President Geingob will be accompanied by First Lady Monica Geingos, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and other senior Government officials.

Buhari’s All Progressive Congress (APC) won the Nigerian presidential and parliamentary elections in April this year with 15.4 million votes against President Goodluck Jonathan’s People’s Democratic Party, which garnered 13.3 million votes.

The statement said various agreements have been signed by Namibia and Nigeria in the areas of mining, mineral processing, tourism, health, the supply of specialised volunteers, culture and education.

The President and his delegation are expected to return to Namibia on 30 May.
