Hangala Assumes Khomas Basketball Reins

Pendapala Hangala has promised “big changes” after being elected the new head of the Khomas Basketball Association (KBA) during a special elective congress on 29 April at Unam’s main campus in Windhoek.

Corbin Prinzonsky was elected vice president, while Michael Katoko became the new treasurer.

The newly elected executive appointed Kenaendo Karamata as the marketing officer Jacques Louw as development officer Allan Nghixulifwa as competition director and Gie Mukumbuta as secretary general.

Hangala said his main priority is to promote the sport code in the region through encouraging increased participation in the sport.

“The newly elected KBA executive is highly committed to further promote and develop of the game of basketball in the Khomas region,” he said.

“We really want the sport to grow by getting the public more involved. At the moment there is little spotlight on basketball in the country. That’s something I’m hoping to change during my tenure,” Hangala added.

The congress was attended by the Namibia Basketball Federation (NBF) president Andrew Masongo and Rama Nyambe who in their respective NBF capacities preceded over the elections.

During the congress, his predecessor, Mervin Katjouanga emphasised the importance of assembling a passionate team of administrators ‘who have the love and time for the game and who see themselves as servants of the basketball community in order to realise their objectives.”
