Hanging Out in the Wind for Records

The organizing committee of this year’s edition of the annual Luumlderitz Speed Challenge have promised nothing but perfection when the competition gets underway at the southern harbour town later this year.

The event will see 20 riders battle it out to break and improve various personal, national and world records.

Kiteboarders and windsurfers will this year take on a new improved speed strip that was designed as per request from the competitors. The aim of the new strip is to record faster speeds in less wind power.

“Luumlderitz has become a place that has revolutionized our sport. It has inspired the speed industry all over the world and has grown the interest of participants in general,” said Sophie Routaboul, co-organizer of this year’s speed sailing event.
