In-Form Ghosts Face Giant Slayers, Magic

FNB Orlando Pirates wily mentor Ali Akan, is looking forward to tonight’s clash against giant killers Tura Magic with keen interest as victory for the Ghosts will propel them to the summit of the MTC Premiership log standings.

The unpredictable Buccaneers lock horns with Timo Tjongarero’s youthful outfit fresh from their 3-1 mauling of title chasing African Stars in their last league outing, while the Buccaneers enjoyed a productive weekend, courtesy of a 2-1 away win against relegation-threatened Eleven Arrows.

The tie is slated for the Sam Nujoma Stadium tonight at 20h00. Victory for Ingweinyama will put them one point ahead of joint log leaders Tigers and Black Africa and Akan will settle for nothing less than a comprehensive win over their much improved opponents if he is to entertain any hopes of wrestling the coveted league title away from Black Africa at the end of the current season.

Akan will be well aised not to slip on a potential banana peel against a team that made Stars look like mere beginners with their slick style and quick counter-attacking game.

Perched in 6th position, 7-points off the summit, Magic’s chances of winning the league title remain a distant possibility given the inconsistency of the main title rivals.

The Ghosts appeared out of contention following a slump in form midway through the opening round, but Akan’s team appears to have rediscovered the kind of form that saw them defeat African Stars in their opening match.
