ITF junior tournament comes to an end

WINDHOEK: The first International Tennis Federation (ITF) youth tournaments which started last week Sunday here came to an end on Saturday in Windhoek.

South Africa fourth seed Jd Malan won the boys’ under-18 tournament after overcoming first seed Courtney Lock of Zimbabwe with a 6-4 6-3 two sets exciting win.

While in the girls single South Africa’s Lee Barnard overcame Zani Barnard after two highly contested sets of 7-6(3) 6-4.

In the doubles players sets South Africa’s Francois Kellerman and Okkie Kellerman won the boys doubles player sets while in the girl’s category South Africa’s Nadine de Villiers and Katie Poluta won that category.

The second ITF Grade 4 Namibia Open Junior tournament will take place next week, with the final matches scheduled for 17 May.
