Juvenile Accused of Vengeful Murder

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Friday at Otjiwarongo in connection with the murder of a security guard who allegedly prevented the boy from committing theft earlier the same day.

Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner, Moses Khairabeb said the 14-year-old, believed to be a street kid, stabbed the guard with a sharp object.

Khairabeb informed New Era that the incident took place at Oshetu Location in Otjiwarongo at around 22h45 as the guard, Johannes Walikoli (37), was making his way home from work. The teen allegedly stabbed him with a knife in the collarbone.

Walikoli unfortunately succumbed to the fatal stab injury before reaching hospital.

The boy was allegedly frustrated with the security guard for getting in his way when he tried to steal from the shops in town. He then confronted Walikoli on Friday evening as he made his way home from work and stabbed him, according to police reports the boy admitted to the stabbing stating that he had enough of the deceased.

The guard’s next of kin have been informed and the boy was scheduled to appear in court today.

In a separate matter, the decomposed remains of Njauu Kasova (68) who has been missing since March 20, this year were discovered in the bushy area of Okahandja farm, Okatjazarunde, this past Saturday. A certain Maria Muyambo informed police about the gruesome discovery of the deceased’s remains.

According to family members the deceased was mentally disturbed and was identified by the clothes he had been wearing at the time of his disappearance.

Khairabeb said members of the police force previously searched for the deceased at the time he was reported missing but came up empty handed, as the area is bushy and full of rocks.

A pedestrian was killed on Sunday evening around 22h12 after a car on the Grootfontein-Tsumeb road bumped her, 15 kilometres from Grootfontein.

The deceased was with her husband or boyfriend and her male companion had been carrying the baby at the time she was hit.

Fransina Gamises (19) a resident of an informal settlement in Grootfontein died on impact and a case of culpable homicide was opened against the driver who claimed she moved into the road. “Pedestrians should keep away from the road especially when it is dark because the vision of drivers is impaired after dark” aised Khairabeb.
