Kanalelo has high plans for BA

Black Africa’s new coach, Ronnie Kanalelo, has promised hard work from him and the technical team as the team gears itself towards defending its Namibia Premier League title.

Kanalelo said this on Wednesday in a telephonic interview with Nampa, stating that the team’s hard work should also come from the players and the club’s supporters.

“I have told the players that BA have got a huge history and we want us to build on this history by winning the cup again,” he said.

Kanalelo was appointed BA’s new coach on Tuesday, with Otto Landsberg as the Assistant Coach and Arnold Subeb as the Goalkeeper Coach.

Their appointment follows after the club’s Executive Committee (Exco) fired its technical team that consisted of head coach Brian Isaacs, Otto Landsberg, Eric Quest and Pappy Matengu in December last year.

The former technical team was axed due to the team’s performance.

BA’s Chairman, Boni Paulino, on Tuesday stated that their objectives for the current football season are to retain the Namibia Premier League Championship and also win the Bidvest cup.

Kanalelo stated that as a former BA player, he is fully aware of the club’s ‘culture of winning.’

“Being champions however does not mean we have to relax because every team plays to win, so we are not going to sit back but to push harder,” said Kanalelo.

He thus called on cooperation from the supporters, whom he urged to go an extra mile in supporting the club.

The NPL second round will commence this month on a yet to be determined date.
