Karibib Constituency Provisional Results

ARANDIS; Provisional results from the Karibib Constituency in the Erongo Region indicate that the Swapo-Party and its presidential candidate Hage Geingob have emerged victorious in the constituency.

Voting in the Presidential and National Assembly elections took place countrywide on Friday.

A total of 6 237 people voted in the Presidential election and 6 253 voted in the National Assembly election in that constituency.

Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Returning Officer for the Karibib Constituency, Helena Amadhila issued the interim results to Nampa.

These results still need to be verified at the ECN headquarters in Windhoek, before they are released as final results.

It showed that Geingob received 4 955 votes and his party 3 647 votes.

McHenry Venaani of the DTA of Namibia received 451 votes, and Hidipo Hamutenya of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) received 294 votes.

In the National Assembly elections, the United Democratic Front of Namibia (UDF) received 1 074, followed by the DTA with 361.

Meanwhile, Amadhila said that unlike other constituencies where some people returned home without voting, all eligible voters in her constituency voted.

“The last person in this constituency voted in Otjimbingwe at around 23h00 on Friday,” she said.

The Karibib Constituency had seven fixed polling stations and nine mobile teams.
