Katutura Rape Pastor Denied Bail

THE Katutura pastor who is accused of raping a 14-year-old epileptic girl appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court in Katutura yesterday and was denied bail.

The 43-year-old pastor, Jordan Katjimune, who belongs to the St Joseph Star Church, appeared before magistrate Surita Savage who postponed the case to 5 January 2015.

Katjimune handed himself to the Katutura Police Station on Monday after a warrant of arrest had been issued against him.

He allegedly raped the 14-year-old girl whom he had been praying for after he was requested by the family that the girl and her sister should stay with him.

The girl’s family said ever since the victim told them about the rape allegations, she has been having more epileptic attacks.

“She is currently admitted in hospital. It is too much for her. We are worried but glad that he was denied bail. All that she is worried about is that the pastor will come and kill her,” the girl’s guardian said.

Katjimune’s lawyer arrived late at the court after the case had already been heard.

A police officer at the court said: “The lawyer was late, so he is trying to meet him now.”

The girl’s family said they withdrew her from the school because of her condition. They then asked the pastor at the St Joseph Star Church to pray for her.

The pastor suggested that the girl and her sister should stay at the church because he would wash them at odd hours such as 02h00 or 04h00 to cleanse them.
