Kenya Beat Namibia A By Six Wickets

Kenya A got their Namibian tour off with a convincing six-wicket victory against Namibia A on Wednesday.

Playing at Affies Park, Namibia A batted first and were all out for 209 off 49 overs.

With Rakep Patel leading the way, Kenya reached the total for the loss of four wickets off only 40 overs. Patel was their top scorer with 87 not out while Morris Ouma scored 55.

In Namibia’s innings, Wessel Myburgh (4) and JP Kotze (12) went cheaply, but Xander Pitchers and Craig Williams steadied the ship before Pitchers was caught off Nelson Odhiambo’s bowling for 41.

Williams went on to top score with 55 off 47 balls which included four fours and three sixes before he was caught behind off Lucas Oluach’s bowling.

Michau du Preez added 15, but Namibia lost regular wickets as they were restricted to 168 for eight wickets.

Further down the order Malan Kruger added 30 and Christopher Coombe 15 as Namibia were all out for 209 off 49 overs.

Oluach was Kenya’s best bowler, taking three wickets for 35 runs off 9 overs, while Nelson Odhiambo, James Ngoche and Elijah Otieno each took two wickets.

Kenya’s openers Alex Obanda and Dhiren Gondaria put on 49 for the first wicket before Gondaria was caught off the bowling of MP Delport for 25.

Obanda was also dismissed by Delport for 20 and when Gurdeep Singh was out for 8 off Vernon Cloete’s bowling, Kenya were struggling at 70 for three wickets.

Morris Ouma and Rakep Patel however came to the rescue with a 106-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Ouma was eventually run out for 55 off 55 balls with the total at 176, but Patel took them to victory scoring 87 not out off 76 balls, which included 10 fours and two sixes.

For Namibia, MP Delport was Namibia’s most successful bowler, taking two wickets for 33 runs off seven overs.
